l just read on a web page that something was the size of a large golf ball. What the F*** is a large golf ball?

Lol l agree. l have seen a golf ball a few millimeters larger than the other. But not a drastic comparison.-

LOL. Thats funny. l guess they mean a racquet ball. All golf balls are for the most part the same size. Although Top Flite did come out with a slightly larger golf ball that they claim went straighter then the standard size ball.

no not all golf balls are the same size, someone got disqualified from a major because he was honest and reported that he used an illegal sized golf ball

The American golf ball is slightly larger then the old British golf ball.
All American golf balls must be the same size (within tolerance) to be recognized by the USGA.

All competitions are played with the standard ball.There was a bigger ball years ago but now all balls must conform to set sizes. The same goes for golf clubs.The grooves must be of a certain shape.There are so many rules in golf it is a job to keep up with it!!

Seems silly does not it? We have figures of speech to embellish the language a bit. Although golf balls have been made in 3 different sizes over the years the figure of speech just means something slightly larger than a golf ball.

According to USGA Rules, a golf ball may not be ''smaller'' than 1.680 inches in diameter. THere is no limit on how large they can be, however, if it does not fit in the cup, it is impossible to finish the hole.

l cannot remember the brand, but some one use to advertise there golf balls were slight larger than normal.

The Rules of Golf designate in Appendix iii, that the ball will weigh no more than 1.62 ounces, will have a diameter of 1.68 inches . It does not express acceptable tolerance variations, at least not in the Rules of Golf. Those may be listed elsewhere & used in determining which makes , brands, & variations of the brands that r acceptable for tournament competition. Essentially all brands r relatively the same size . So whoever wrote something about a large golf ball knew nothing about size.
