l pull out my club and drive the ball out of bounds in the woods or beyond the white poles. Question is, am l now lying 2 at the tee box(take another drive w/ penalty) or lying 2 at the spot where it went out. Thx!!!!not to sure on this rule.

You do not have the option of taking a drop at the point the ball went OB...It is a stroke and distance penalty...you are hitting 3 from the Tee.

WBaker is correct. However, depending on where you play, pace of play factors in. If you're playing at a crowded course, to keep up pace of play, you'd play your 3rd shot from where the ball went out of bounds. If not, then play your 3rd shot from the tee.

An out of bounds shot from the tee results in laying two on the tee and you will be hitting your third shot. Been there done that many times.

You are hitting 3 from the tee box. You lye 2.

The ball driven out of bounds is replayed from the tee box with the stroke and distance penalty. That means you would be shooting 3 from the teeing ground.

If u hit it into a water hazard its a drop at the point of entry with 1 stroke. So its 1 in the hazard, 2 out, hitting 3. Same count with a lost ball or out of bounds, but u play from the previous spot (you may again use a tee on a drive OB). If u then hit it out of bounds again, its 1 out, 2 in, 3 out, 4 in, hitting 5 again from the prior spot. The out/in count makes it pretty easy.

Whenever u hit a ball that may be lost or OB, u always want to declare a provisional ball & reload. That way if u get up to ur ball & its OB u have already played ur 3rd shot & can move on. If ur ball is still in bounds then u can hit play 2nd shot normally & go pick up the provisional. Unfortunately there is no provisional ball rule for a water hazard.

if you hit out of bounds your hitting 3 from the tee, if you hit into a hazard you will be hitting 3 from a drop zone near the hazard.
