You're absolutely right there buddy. It is not playoffs if they are not playing off until there is only one left. The PGA Tour has to find a way to have match play in this, that is how you have a playoff. l wrote 2 articles about this subject on my website, l put the link below.

Regardless who is on top, there will always be some argument as to the method of determining a winner. Remember, Fed-Ex is betting big bucks to find a successful format and Fincham has to come up with a scenario acceptable to sponsors and players both.

There is still something missing. l am more than an average golf fan, but l still have difficulty knowing what is going on. If it were not for them flashing green & red numbers throughout this weekend is event, it is hard to get any drama, let alone a casual golf fan. They really played up the ''playoff'' concept in all their commercials, yet we head to the finals with the winner already done. And being able to skip a playoff game & still make the finals? That is a big strike. It is a tough balancing act to please everyone, but East Lake is going to be a big yawner.

l think there needs to be some changes. l do like the elimination system & l do not know if match play would work as there may not be enought time.

However here r my thoughts to make it better. Use a point system throught the year to determin who gets in the playoffs.
(Just like ur season record in the nfl determines who gets in)

Then l think once the playoffs start scrap any point system all together.
Each round is an elimination round, no points will be accumulated. have the top 120 get into the playoffs.

After the first round if u do not make the top 100 ur gone.

After the second round if u do not make the top 75 or even top 50 ur gone

After the third round take only the top 30 players as there doing.

So up to this point ur r only playing to get into the 4th round.

Winner of the last event wins the fedex cup!!

Hardly, l think that the final tournament should reset the points and everybody has a chance to win..This has turned into a fiasco both last yr and this yr..Last yr.skip a tournament and win...this yr..just show up and fool around for 72 holes.no matter your score you get 10 Mil....something is just wrong about that.
