At my golf course l play with one of my friend, now everytime l go out the golf shop always pair us up with one or two other people. This is really annoying cause l just wanna hang and golf with my friend. It is also horrible when that person sucks! what can l do????

l work at a pro shop, & quite often when its especially busy we do pair up groups. it helps mantain the course better & it definatley helps speed up play.

personally l would prefer to play with just who l hav arranged to play with, & if u just ask the pro shop when u book ur tee time if ul be paired up, or tell them that u dont want to be paired up then most of the time its never a problem.
quite a few people feel the same as u & its not a problem to the golf club if u dont want to be paired, its just conveinient.

You can always ask the single or pair to play ahead.
Maybe play the first hole with them, just for show, than politely say “we are playing a practice round and would like to hit a bunch of extra shots do you guys mind playing ahead, we don’t want to slow you down”. It should be no problem.

Look; the course is trying to maximize revenue; having a foursome rather than a twosome means more dollars.

To that, understand that the other grouping may well have feelings about you and your mate. You do not have to be best friends; just be sociable and get on with it.

Lots of good input. You could request being only a twosome if you are flexible on the starting time. Popular times mean moving more players through. Try mid day or late afternoon or sometimes first off. Also, maybe find a third golfing friend, less likely to get that single stuck in with you. If all else fails, just relax and enjoy the extra company.

You should always expect to be paired up if you're a twosome and you play during high demand times. Play late in the afternoon and asked not to be paired up and if they can, they will. A golf course only has x number of tee times to sell in a given day. If one is used up for 2 players only, 2 players worth of revenue is lost. l am sure they'd let you play as two if you'd like to pay for 4.

Nothing. It is at the courses discretion how they send out the pairings off the first tee, and they are going to do it whatever way makes them the most money.

Join a country club if golfing with other people makes you nervous. You shouldnt be worried about them anyway. That will only make you lose focus on your game.

Do not forget that every tee time is revenue for the course. Assume that your course charges $50 green fees. If they let you play as a two-ball when they're busy, it is potentially costing them $100 in revenue. Usually if the course is not too busy, they do not mind sending twosomes off. If they're full though you have to expect to be paired up. (Or pay an extra $100 to play with just your friend).
