Do not try to kill the ball. Just hit it smoothly.

Do this first.

1) get the ball in the hole in the LEAST possible strokes
2) keep your eye on the ball when you swing. head down, follow through
3) player with the LOWEST score in the end wins.

players hit a ball towards a hole marked by a flag on a grassy, sandy, and watery course and try and get the ball in in the fewest hits. after 18 different holes the person with the lowest score wins

Hit the ball into the hole, with the least amount of strokes.
Different holes will have a different number of strokes allotted to it.
If u r ''on par'' ur strokes match the allotted strokes for each hole.
You want to have a negative score. Negative scores r good.
There r usually 18 holes (some people play less, but 18 is standard).
Do not hit the ball into ponds, the rough, or the sand traps.
Try & get the ball to stay on the green.
Use a driver for long strokes, & a putter for putting.
Golf is a long sport. And golf clubs r heavy. Use the golf cart.

this is advice coming from someone who doesnt play at all but who feels pretty confident based on what little his uncle taught him. first of all u always want to stand with ur kness slightly bent so that ur in a comfy position. when u swing the club u want to keep ur front arm perfectly straight (depends on if ur right or lefthanded) & u want to bend ur lagging arm. when u follow through u do not want ANY of ur lower body to move, this is the killer that ruins most beginners. ur shoulders should also remain stationary, only ur arms take care of the swing as u follow through.

the biggest advice in golf once u get past the basics is to learn to handle stress very well. golf is probably the absolute most taxing sport on ur mind. u have to train ur concentration very well & u have to be patient. its a sport that takes a long time to become acquainted with.

of course l dont play at all but one of my best friends does.

The basics of golf start with alignment, stance, ball position, swing plane from static to back swing to impact and follow through to finish with the belly button facing the intended target. Do all of this with a trigger to get the swing started, employ proper tempo and there you have the basics to golf.
