When you have a handicap at golf, how do you calculate your new handicap after playing a round which is much better and should reduce it?

Handicap should be the average amount of shots over you are each round. If you have one round of 20 over, and a round of 10 over, average would be 15. You should play a lot of matches before you go for the average though, not just base it on a few rounds.

The system will select the best 10 of the last 20 rounds entered ,will factor them by the course ratings where the rounds were played, will take 10 % of the total of those rounds subtract that from 10 times the par leaving a difference which will be multiplied by 96% to arrive at the handicap. This is recalculated every two weeks during the season. Unless the round is exceptionally good one round will not effect the handicap calculation.
