i hit the ball pretty far
however, l struggle with my driver/long irons as there is just no height on my shots whatsoever. but i'm successful with shorter irons.
although, when l play well l hit it alot higher with a longer hangtime
so what is going on?.

the ball flight is supposed to be low and piercing with driver and long irons. its how you get more distance and roll.

because you have less loft on the club, it imparts less backspin causing it to fly low.

In your stance position yourself a little bit more to the back of the ball and aim about an inch or a half before you actually hit the ball.

Yeah, if u r right handed put the ball a little more on ur left foot, it might promote more of a draw but the trajectory may be worth it to you. l hit my 3 iron about 220 & it has about the same trajectory as my 8 & 9 iron or even wedges, the only difference is the amount of distance it takes for my 3 iron to reach it maximum height. l used to have the same problem though, I've been playing for 15 years but up until my sophomore year in high school l had low trajectory. l used to swing like l had a pitching wedge in my hand while l was actually holding a 3 iron & it was rather effective. Another technique was coming down at such an angle that it seemed l was attempting to ''hammer'' the ball into the ground. If you've ever heard the phrase ''Swing down at the ball'' well that really helped me alot & that is what l meant by hammer the ball into the ground. And lastly, what l still do is i'm having trouble, is not to even look at the ball.just try to hit the grround immediately past the ball. My only problem now is my steep swing that generates to much backspin, causing my long iron shots to baloon after 150 yards, & cutting my distance by 10 or 15 yards.

try dipping your right shoulder (if your right- handed) at address just a tad. That helped me a lot with getting the short irons up in the air. Also check try teeing the ball up a little higher to get some height on your driver. Good Luck!

well ur driver is meant to fly low & hit the ground at a shallow angle to get more roll, so unless its way too unreasonably low, u probably shouldnt worry too much about that
you have a lower handicap than what l usually score (high 80s to low 90 before l got new clubs, now im working on getting used to them)

if u really wanna raise ur driver shot, u can try
teeing the ball up higher
putting the ball more forward in ur swing

if ur shots going straight & into the air, getting a more lofted driver probably isnt a good idea

as for ur long irons
i have no credible source for what im about to say (not something ive heard someone golf wise tell me about) but maybe ur clubs have worn out grooves or somthing
if ur hitting in low 80s u must have a pretty good swing, & if ur shorter irons dont have a problem maybe its the clubs

Try to adjust your address position and dial your right grip to a an open position with respect to your left gip. Open your stance a bit and now try

Yow might be trapping the ball to much or leading with your hands. This delofts the clubface. Try hitting your long irons with your putter grip just for practice. This helped me with your problem.

First of all someone answered u want to hit ur driver low. That is completely wrong, u basically want to hit it as high as possible without it ballooning. in other word u do not want to see it start low & rise up but a fluent trajectory depending on u club head speed.

The faster the club head speed the lower u may hit ur driver, anything like 110mph should be around 12-13* (not club head but launch angle) any lower speed means the ball should start higher. u will have so much better control flying the ball most of the way, the pros have all moved to this mentality & started to hit em high.

As to why ur hitting the ball low, there r several possibilities l will list a few:

1. Your shafts r too strong for you
- This will cause u to hit the ball low & possibly pull ur shots.

2. Your shafts have a higher kick point.
- If ur shaft is kick point is too high it will cause ur club face to be pointing downward at impact. (people with extremely high swing speeds or backspin on the ball want this) a lower kick point will flip the club head at impact causing it to hit the ball higher.

3. Your head has past the ball at impact. this would be a good thing with ur wedges to squeeze them out with allot of backspin (maybe why ur having success with them) but ur head should be behind or aligned with ur ball at impact. to resolve this u may want to setup with ur shoulders tilted back. (your back shoulder lower than the front) Many pros setup to the ball this way.

4. It also could be as simple as a ball change too.
