last summer l was a 1 handicap and im going to be playing in a wood bat league on sundays.just wanted to know if golf swing.
im playing in the the league this summer.il probably play golf about 4-5 times a week, and baseball about 2 days a week (one game on sunday and practice thursday nights).

Actually when l took some golf lessons before, one of the pros told me to work on my baseball swing to help smooth out the plane and my weight shift and it did help considerably. He said to take the baseball swing and pivot at the hips to increase the angle of the swingplane and use that to sweep the ball (we were working on the driver at the time)

Seems that many good golfers l know in terms of both distance and accuracy, were or are baseball players. The weight shift, staying behind the ball, the pivot and the eye hand coordination all come in to play. As long as you maintain a good golf grip vs. the baseball bat grip, you should actually see some benefit. Of course l am assuming you are still a young buck and your body can take all of this activity. l would be out of commission after one game.

l would not worry about it. While there are many similarities between the two swings, there are also many differences and one probably wo not have an effect on the other.

Yeah, l am not quit sure how this myth got started, but I've been around golf my entire life & have heard this 100 is of times. ''The golf swing & the baseball swing do not mix!'' As a junior golfer it had me so paranoid that l would not even play baseball with friends.


In the last couple summers I've been playing in a softball league. l really enjoyed going to the batting cages: l probably spent $200 on tokens just taking pitches. What l found out is that working on the batting swing was actually very beneficial to my golf swing. It helped to shallow out my plane which has been an ongoing problem my entire life.

So just like me, u have probably heard the one swing will mess up the other. Do not believe it! It is coming from well intentioned, though misguided, people who believe that the swings do not mix, when they actually have a lot in common.

The mechanics of a swing r the same whether u r playing baseball or teeing off. Posture, address, grip, back swing, swing plane, ball contact, follow through, etc. You will hear all these terms in a training session on both baseball & golf. Only exception u will have to be careful about, baseball requires quick reflex & a better hand - eye coordination. golf is more of disciplined swing with control. do not swing ur club like a baseball bat & vice versa. but the strength training & techniques from base ball will generally benefit ur golf swing. otherwise, go out there & enjoy both games.

Playing baseball definitely messed up your swing because they have two conflicting view points of swinging the bat/club. In baseball, you're taught to throw your hands and butt of the bat directly at the ball: short and quick. In golf, you're taught to keep a straight arm for majority of the swing and come around to the ball with a rounded approach, opposed to the straight approach of baseball.

A baseball player trying to play golf is bad ju-ju.
Why u ask? Well, in a good baseball swing, the back shoulder lags behind creating a power stoke for a heavy item. If ur carry this to a golf swing, what will happen is a drive that screams down the fairway, then takes a right turn Clyde so hard that it might even U-turn on u & come back at u on another fairway.

l played baseball for 7 years before l started playing golf, & l had a major problem with SLICING! MAJOR PROBLEM!


On the other hand, playing golf first will work better for you.
